Person Profiles for Job Adverts

Person Profiles should go hand in hand with Job Descriptions during the Recruitment Process.

Whilst the Job Description is a more formal document that may only change a little over time, a Person Profile should be revisited for each vacancy.  When you are designing the Person Profile think about the skills and experience that you want to bring to your team.  Consider your existing team and what type of person will work well with them.  Think about what skills you want to bring in to your organisation and how they will compliment your existing strengths, or help to minimise your weaknesses.

If these are documented and available to existing candidates it helps them to visualise what they will need to demonstrate to be successful at interview.  It will also help to eliminate candidates who although are able to do the job do not fit the Person Profile that you are looking for.  In the long term good Person Profiles can help to increase staff retention.
